Formula dyes
Why are we using them?
Colouring agents (or pigments when in powder form) are used in some cosmetic products at low percentages to improve the visual appearance of a formula or to modify its colour. They are clearly indicated in the INCI list of ingredients (usually at the end), their name starts with CI (Colour Index) followed by 5 digits. They can be either of natural origin (vegetable, mineral or animal) or synthetic.
Some synthetic pigments (azo dyes and halogenated derivatives) are controversial for their allergenic and irritant potential.
Erborian's vision
- We are particularly interested in the sensoriality and the pleasure of using our products.
To this end, we use colouring agents in some of our formulas, giving priority to colouring agents of natural origin.
When necessary to improve the visual aspect of our formulas, synthetic dyes may be added. The dyes used for this purpose are authorised by European regulations and are selected by our laboratory for their recognised tolerance on the skin.
Because we remain very attentive to the evolution of the regulations in force with regard to the most controversial active ingredients as well as to the latest trends in ingredients likely to replace them, we follow a process of continuous improvement in the formulation of our products. Our laboratory and our experts are committed to continuously refining our formulation expertise to bring the best of Care to our consumers. This is our Erborian "Safe & Conscious" commitment.
